Post subject:  Re: UBCD V5.3.2 available for download

Around the time the UBCD 5.3.2 version was released, the website was down for several hours.

During this time, some popular software repositories were already distributing a "new" UBCD532.iso. That ISO image is not the one currently available in the official download page. Unfortunately, they are still distributing the wrong ISO image.

For future reference, there is a chance that when users will refer to UBCD 5.3.2 (currently known as the "latest"), they would be actually using the wrong image.

For users, please use the checksum / hash values posted in http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html to verify that you have the correct image. Use the official torrent and the relevant tutorial posted on the wiki at http://wiki.ultimatebootcd.com/index.php?title=Tutorials:Calculating_Hash_Sum.

To be clear, the "wrong" ISO image contains some older versions / data (comparing to the current official 5.3.2 release) and some "garbage". Most of its content is the same as UBCD 5.3.1 (the prior official version). There is currently no "unsafe" issue about it, but someone could take advantage of this mismatch and potentially post yet another (fake) ubcd532.iso image, so users should better be aware of this matter.

I have hashes for the wrong images too, but I am not sure whether I should post them here.

Server Ninja's download appears to be good. The checksum matches to download page.

Shellshock fix for MSYS bash:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/f ... -3.1.23-1/

Not sure if it is useful to upgrade this thing in UBCD.

The msys-1.0.dll (from msysCORE) that MSYS bash depends might need to be updated as well.

Testdisk and Photorec 7.0 WIP are being updated by their developer once in awhile.

@Victor, perhaps right before the next (or before each) UBCD release you might want to include their latest update (and perhaps also add their release date in the corresponding 'menu label', in addition to the version, 7.0 WIP). No rush, of course.

The new 'msys-1.0.dll" has a whole new bunch of dependencies I am not sure it's worthwhile to include, so I am going to KIV. Within the context of UBCD, the shellshock bug should have close to zero impact given the restricted use case.

Noted. Will definitely update for new releases.
