I was working on a boot CD for a while, and deciding to scrap that idea because UBCD5.x has most of the same things I was working on (ie: the help menu's etc). Anyways, I wanted to help out on the new build and throw out an idea I had.

Create an XML file to store on http://www.ultimatebootcd.com that would store info about the apps (name, version, home website, direct DL link, utility category, UBCD Menu, help description, etc). You could then have 1 master file that could be parsed for alot of things such as:

1) Script that updates utilities and menus
2) Script that updates documentation

Obviously there would be a few things to discuss such as what all should go into the file. Let me know if this is something you guys would like to try out, or if there is any area of UBCD5.x that you need assistance on.

as702 needs help for testing the freedos image on an usb thumb drive: http://ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1502

If you have general suggestions for the dosapps part of UBCD, your ideas are welcome at: http://ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1422

If you have a multicore pc also test the CPUstress image that I updated and let me know if all your cores are detected. Checking the help files in the image on spelling errors is also appreciated (suggest better constructions for some sentences). My English isn't that good, sadly. http://ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1476

I like this idea. I have thought of it myself sometime ago, but because at that time there wasn't a beta for UBCD5 so it wasn't worth the time, because I didn't know which tools would be included and which not.
Also add all the file paths for a specific program. e.g. Files mbrtool: kernel image: /ubcd/images/dosubcd.igz and /ubcd/dosapps/mbrtool/mbrtool.zip
I have seen requests from users, where they can find the files for a specific program on the CD and also where it is in the menu.
The XML file can get parsed by a php script to update the home page. It also can be used to update UBCD with a newer version of the tools (you need to know where files must be saved in the iso image anyway).
