Hitachi Drive Fitness still hangs from USB memory stick

DFT has the same problem that was reported several times in Version 4 discussions. It just hangs during startup.

Probably PC-dos has problems with booting from your hardware.

I just want to confirm that DFT works on my Dell D610 laptop when booted from a USB memory stick.
It's probably hardware-specific. Is there anyway to tell if it works when booted from a CD?
From what I gather so far (both on the UBCD forum and the syslinux mailing list), booting from USB is still much less stable compared to booting from CD, no thanks to the BIOS makers.
