UBCD V5.0b11 available for download

UBCD V5.0b11 is now available as a torrent download.

The xdelta file is too big so I will skip that.

Details:

- Moved ubcd2iso and ubcd2usb to win32 subdirectory in preparation for IceCube's Linux equivalent scripts.
- Updated syslinux/isolinux to V3.73.
- Updated mkisofs command in ubcd2iso.cmd to add RockRidge extension without compromising Win2K/XP integration.
- Removed timeout from syslinux.cfg/isolinux.cfg and go straight to UBCD main menu upon IceCube's suggestion that
this is more logical and convenient.
- Relocate core files from /boot/isolinux to boot/syslinux.
- Updated SeaTools for DOS to V2.13b.
- Fixed typo in partimage help text.
- Updated Avira AntiVir Rescue System to V3.5.5-20090206085648.
- Updated Parted Magic to V3.5.

It seems I have a problem with UBCDv5.11.
When I tried to use the HDD Samsung Tools v2.11 on Ubcd 5.11 (on my usb device ) it begins to launch Freedos and Freedos crashes with an "opcode error : ............" (I can provide the error number if necessary)
The weird thing is that I have not this problem with UBCD v5.10.
And UBCD v5.11 seems to works on another system (Athlon 5200-chipset MCP51) whereas it does not on my system ( E8400- asus P5b (Chipset intel P965) - Radeon 4870 - 4 *1 Go DDR II ).

Try the following, and boot HDD Samsung Tools from the grub4dos menu. Let me know if it helps.
I made an xdelta patch that adds grub4dos support, besides isolinux/syslinux support.

Does every freedos application crash on that PC?
As far as I know the freedos image didn't change between UBCDv50b10 and UBCDv50b10.
Did you test it the previous time also with an usb device?

Hi,
I'm having the same opcode problem with Samsung HDD tools. I patched UBCD V5.0b11 to get the grub4dos version and tried booting from the grub4dos menu and it starts installing something then hangs. :(

custom.cfg

Hi there, I notice that custom.cfg template has not been updated, I assume that where one sees

Code: Select all

isolinux
, it should now be

Code: Select all

syslinux
, and

Code: Select all

KERNEL memdisk
should be

Code: Select all

KERNEL /boot/syslinux/memdisk
.

Great project by the way, I use it all the time. :o

Does every freedos application crash on that PC? -> I think so...I tried to launch only Freedos and it crashes the same way.

As far as I know the freedos image didn't change between UBCDv50b10 and UBCDv50b10.
Did you test it the previous time also with an usb device? ->yes
And now the results with ubcd5.11"grub4dos" :
It works ...almost :)
When I tried to launch Samsung 2.11 it wrote something like : "extracting autorun.cab..." and then exit properly to the console
( I took the precaution to add my own EStool.exe (v2.11) on the key and I could launch it manually without problem )
So there is still at least a little problem but not very important, isn't it ? ;)
I tried to launch Freedos too and it has the same behaviour (exiting properly, which I think is the right behaviour...)

Mine did not exit to the console. How did you add your own EStool.exe ? That's all I need to use right now. I just want to get my Samsung HDD working - it's very frustrating!

Hi, I'm new to this forum and not sure if this is the correct place to report this observation. However, I did an antivirus scan on my system with symantec and it flagged a backdoor.trojan in \ubcd\dosapps\astra.cab in the v5b11 I downloaded and expanded yesterday. Has anyone else had this notification?

If its a generic backdoor trojan than its a false positive. I have scanned with norton internet security 2008 all files aswell and did also recieve generic false positives. You shouldnt be worried...its just heuristics detectiving a false positive. It can safely be ignore...unless you dled it from another site not from the main link...then I would worry. So if you are worried, dl from the main ftp link provided and scan again.

Is that right? UBCD 5.0 beta 12?

I only see b11 in this thread, which is correct?
