XFRPOT missing from Parted Magic 4.6 in UBCD v5.0RC1?

Hi,

in v5.0b12 there had been a menu item in Parted Magic 3.7 under Accessories for Xfprot, but it appears that it has been removed from UBCD v5.0RC1 & it's Parted v4.6.

terminal/shell access to fprot is also seemingly not present, or i'm just trying to do it incorrectly.

I do see that in the pmagic/pmodules folder on the CDRom there are several f-prot related .txz files (f-prot-6.0.2.txz, fprot-definitions.txz, xfprot-2.2.txz).

I did see that an 'update' icon for ClamAV was added (very handy - thank you).

Oh, and I too had to use the myubcd.com download link -- the linuxfreedom link appears to be to 5.0b12 not RC1.

Which menu entry of the Parted Magic menu did you boot?
Do you see any of the PC* programs in the menu (PCLoginNow, ...)?
How much RAM does your PC have?

Thank you for the quick response.

* System I'm testing this on is a Thinkpad T61 w/ 3GB of RAM.
* I have just been using the default option #1 for Parted: Default settings (Runs from RAM).
* the only PC* menu item I can find is 'PCMan File Manger' under System Tools

I did compare the MD5 for the mybcd.com version of the download, and it does match up.

Try the second option. It seems that Parted Magic can't find your USB drive again to copy the modules from /pmagic/pmodules/.

That was the trick. Thank you.

For what it's worth I've been doing this from CDRom all along, not USB. It is a SATA CD drive (internal) if that makes any difference.

Can you check if you have a /pmagic dir on another partition than on your CD (in C:\ or whatever). This can make Parted Magic confused. If you find a /pmagic dir, remove it and try the 'RAM' option again.

I do not have a pmagic on c:. And there is not one present on the mount point for that drive when using the 1st boot option.

When using the 2nd boot option, I do appear to have one at that mount point (/media/sda1), but that's the boot option under which I *do* have fprot available to me.

Try the boot to RAM entry again, but add noumount to the boot entry.
