I note the change log/version history but it does not give me a complete list of what has changed or if this will work on Vista/Windows 7 in terms of at least recovering the registry without losing all restore points. Read that with UBCD4WIN package Vista and Win 7 can be problematic in restore point recovery when using the built in tools.
Thanks for any comments
Sincerely
Peter
UBCD Version 5-is there a list of changes since version 4?

Are you referring to UBCD For Windows or UBCD?
They are different projects. UBCD is pretty much OS-independent.

I guess I was referring to UBCD4WIN which I have used in the past to help people. Sorry.
However that raises a question. Perhaps with UBCD I could boot a Windows PC (XP, VIsta, 7) and perhaps mount an NTFS drive or however it works and then restore a registry from the hidden System Volume Information subdirectory on Drive C:
Is this possible UBCD - through the usual DOS commands (CD, Copy, etc..)???
Thanks so much
peter

You can mount an NTFS volume using Parted Magic, a Linux distro included with UBCD V5.
There are also two Windows registry -related apps found on UBCD:
- Offline NT Password & Registry Editor
- PC Regedit (module under Parted Magic).
