Does the UBCD2USB feature work properly now? With the RC versions, I'd always get some kind of error regarding a missing file when trying to boot the USB flash drive I used with UBCD2USB.

According to Seagate's website, the seagate seatools for dos latest version should be 2.20 released on april 25, 2010 with bugs' fixes. Since you updated it from version 2.13 to 2.17 (instead 2.20), I wonder if there is any problem with the latest seatools version.

Than you in advance.

Where did you see V2.20?

I download mine from here, and it says 2.17.

2.17 is in the "Legacy versions" section. 2.20 is just above.

Their website interface is not optimal I would say. ;)

Thanks for this new release, let's torrent a bit now...

The UBCD2USB isn't working for me. Before starting, I ejected all other USB devices, then FAT32 formatted my 1GB USB flash drive.

Tried UBCD2USB and get this error when it's copying files to the USB flash drive:

UBCD2USB: Copying files to USB KEY...
318 File(s) copied
(ERROR) Missing 'K:\ubcd\tools\win32\ubcd2usb\ubcd2usb.cmd' (script did not run successfully)

I checked the flash drive though and it has the same number of files / folders as the folder I extracted the ISO to.

@Victor Chew

About seatools for dos:

First, one comment about the "text" version. Despite the version number being 1.10 since 2007, the note (at the same link you posted) says:

"It has the same level of diagnostic capability and hardware support. These two versions are updated and released together".

I don't really know how this is possible, since the dos graphical version is being updated and the dos text version number has been the same for 3 years. But in any case, maybe it would be wise to download the text version and compare it to the one you added in previous UBCD 5 betas and RC's, just to be sure that the 1.10 version does not need to be "updated" in UBCD 5.0 final?

Now about seatools for dos "graph" version, as Midseven posted above, the 2.20 version is also available at the same link you posted, but it seems seagate posted just the iso image of that updated 2.20 version, not the floppy disk creator version (for now?).

Indeed, at the "Legacy" section of that same page, the iso image version and the floppy disk creator version are both posted as "2.17".

If you download the "learn more" pdf, it says:

"2.20 25-Apr-2010 Bug fix when calculating large drive capacity."

It sounds to me as an important bug fix, and that's why I suggested to use the last available version.

Since the "fixed" version was released just 2 weeks ago (25-Apr-2010), maybe seagate will make available a floppy disk creator version after they check the iso image version for a while? I don't really know, since I'm not a seagate employee, but a simple end-user.

To include seatools in UBCD, I don't know if you can extract the updated 2.20 iso image version and use that version instead of the floppy disk creator version, which is currently posted as "legacy" only. I mean, I know you can extract the content of the iso image. What I don't know is if it is possible to replace the files from the floppy version with those extracted from the iso image and get the expected result (with the bug fixed and all the program's functionality). Maybe the dos iso image version 2.20 includes the floppy disk creator version also?

By the way, Miray published HDClone free version 3.9.1.

Thank you in advance.

Very nice work on the 5.x version, this is one tool I can't live without in the IT field.

One minor problem.. antivirus def updating is still not working under windows http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2173

Also, I have not been able to get HDAT2 to work when booted from USB or when the ISO is booted from a VM. I have reverted back to HDAT2 4.53 found here http://www.hdat2.com/files/hdat2all_4_53.rar

Thanks! Since I need to update fdubcd.img, I will make this update as well.

At the command type, if you type:

Code:
type K:\ubcd\tools\win32\ubcd2usb\ubcd2usb.cmd

right after you finish running usb2ubcd, what do you see?

Done that. They are the same!

Could you give me a new output capture? I made some changes to the script since then, so I am quite certain errors such as "Error: Can not create output directory \\\\boot\antivir\\" wouldn't occur now.

I ran the scripts and I believe they're working. Avira was the only one to spew some output, the others were up to date. Any recommended way to force an update just to see that it works?

Delete "C:/DOCUME~1/kcarney/LOCALS~1/Temp/ubcd-temp/avira/" to force Avira to update.

Delete "C:/DOCUME~1/kcarney/LOCALS~1/Temp/ubcd-temp/" to force all scripts to update.

@kcarney: I tested HDAT2 on both VMWare and Dell D610 (from a USB memory stick), and it ran OK.

Could it be a machine-specific incompatibility? Did you test it under VMWare or another machine?

@kcarney: Could you please download http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/misc/bin.zip, unzip to c:\ubcd-extracted\ubcd\tools\win32\unxutils\bin and try again. It contains 2 files: rm.exe and cat.exe.

The missing rm.exe is a known problem (because I discovered I tested from a command prompt with rm.exe in the path). But:

Code:
clamav.sh: line 92: ./../../../../pmagic/pmodules/clamav-definitions.txz: Permission denied

Code:
fprot.sh: line 38: ./../../../../pmagic/pmodules/fprot-definitions.txz: Permission denied

seems to indicate some ACL problems because clamav-definitions.txz and fprot-definitions.txz cannot be overwritten.

Can you try to manually delete the files from the same command prompt:

Code:
del c:\ubcd-extracted\pmagic\pmodules\clamav-definitions.txz
del c:\ubcd-extracted\pmagic\pmodules\fprot-definitions.txz

and see what you get?

I tested on 2 model motherboards and QEMU, since Vmware ESXi will not share USB devices with guest OS. The 2 motherboards are ASUS, one socket 775 and one 1156, I'll get some screenshots from those two later today

All seems OK now with the addition of rm.exe and cat.exe and deletion of the original clamav and fprot def files. What seems strange though is that the Avira update will run regardless if it is up to date, but I can live with that.

@kcarney: I tested HDAT2 on both VMWare and Dell D610 (from a USB memory stick), and it ran OK.

Could it be a machine-specific incompatibility? Did you test it under VMWare or another machine?

I tested on 2 model motherboards and QEMU, since Vmware ESXi will not share USB devices with guest OS. The 2 motherboards are ASUS, one socket 775 and one 1156, I'll get some screenshots from those two later today

I'm thinking it isn't working on hardware because both MBs have an on board JMicron IDE controller.

I can't live with that! :D

Please download http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/misc/avira.sh to "c:\ubcd-extracted\ubcd\tools\linux\antivirus".

What happened was there was a one-liner debug code that I forgot to remove. Sorry!
