Interesting link there for all the drive diagnostics (most already included with newer versions). And yes, jptech is correct should be Fujitsu labeled.

Should PartedMagic 5.5 load from UBCD 5.1a1 ? Currently when I select it from the main menu I get the text at the bottom of the screen and if I ask to boot it it does nothing.

Is this a known issue? Is there something I can do to help resolving this problem? (I am no expert in this domain)

Short answer: yes.
Currently when I select it from the main menu I get the text at the bottom of the screen and if I ask to boot it it does nothing.
Are you sure that you are selecting the "PartedMagic 5.5" line? I ask this because there are bugs with other lines of the boot menu, that says that a certain program is part of PartedMagic and it should be started automatically after you see PartedMagic's boot menu, but actually the line does nothing (PartedMagic is not booted and the program is not automatically started).

What you should see and do is:
1_ From the first boot menu, use the cursor keys to move to the PartedMagic 5.5 line.
2_ Press <enter>.
3_ Now you should see a new boot menu, which is the boot menu of PartedMagic 5.5.
4_ If you don't press any key, the "default" menu is selected after several seconds. Pressing some cursor key, you cancel the timer, and you can select the PartedMagic boot menu adequate for your particular system and preferences.

If what you see is not what you should see, then you should double check your download with the official torrent (located at the first post of this topic) with the "force re-check" function (see the "torrent" section of the UBCD wiki tutorial about checksum/hashcodes if you don't know how to force "re-check").

If the ISO image check fails, use the torrent to download the correct ISO and re-burn it.

If the ISO image check is OK, then you should verify that the CD media is correct ("verify" against the downloaded ISO image).

If that is also OK, then you should test the CD on some other system, to see if the problem is related to the particular system where you are running UBCD.

If you only need PartedMagic, and you don't need any function/tool of UBCD itself, you may download the latest PartedMagic stable version from http://partedmagic.com.
