Experience needed: what can I exclude?

#1 Post by jhofstede » Fri May 29, 2015 12:02 pm

I hope someone with some experience can help me in the right direction.
My PC has two OS's: Win XP and Linux Mint.
Win XP has not been used for a long time.
Linux Mint was doing fine, until some weeks ago.
The system was still booting, but was crashing more often every day.
Now I cannot boot into Linux at all. I get kernel panics.
But I can also not boot into Windows any more.
Only booting into Windows with safe mode works.
I have also created usb boot disks and even booting from those does not work. On other systems I can boot from the same usb disk, so the usb disk is fine.

I am glad I found the Ultimate Boot CD.
Put it on a usb disk and it works like a charm.
There are so many options that I don't know where to start.

Could anyone tell me what certainly could not be the problem?
Or what most likely will be the problem with my system?

Many thanks!

I'd suggest checking your RAM first using the tools under "Memory" section.
