MD5

#1 Post by jabo » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:59 am

Hey, I'm new to this forum and just looking around.

One thing I was just curious about that made me join this forum: I just downloaded UBCD as an ISO image via torrent... and the resulting file did not match the MD5 checksum... then I took one from an ftp mirror and it did so!

The first one had this one:

Code: Select all

~/Download> md5sum ubcd503.iso
25cf10ef1e6188a3713face778c664ea ubcd503.iso
The second file had this one wich matches the code that is published on the download page:

Code: Select all

~/Download> md5sum ubcd503_.iso
6cf0f4ff7f11ad2d78058541831c4bcc ubcd503_.iso
Hey, and while saying hi to every body, I'm from germany (Hamburg) and english is not my native language. But I hope I'm doing well enough :)

Have the torrent program run a hash check on the file, it will probably update the file and download the missing pieces.
