Suggestion: Add HWINFO

HWiNFO™ - A powerful system information tool for DOS

Comprehensive hardware information
System health monitoring
Full and short report format
Regular updates
Runs under MS-DOS (i386+)
Shareware (14-day free trial)

Current version: 5.2.2 (Aug-11-2008)
http://www.hwinfo.com/

I don't know if the shareware part, gives a problem or not for including it in UBCD.

Works fine in UMBPCI mode (booting under EMM386 kicks up a V86 warning). Might be worth disabling LFN support prior to execution (not really an issue). The pop-ups are annoying though.

Didn't Victor release a prior version of this in UBCD 4.11?

I don't know if there are much programs on UBCD that only require a small set of the freedos files. Maybe it is worth to make an alternate freedos image which has only the bare minimum (no ntfs support, ...). Or extend the current freedos image with support for additional parameters in the isolinux config files ,that makes it clear that only a small subset of programs and cab files must be runned so there is less prompting (just like the freedos image has only the bare minimum).

Probably not necessary; if you boot in an alternate config.sys modes you should be covered (there's actually very little loaded from the the freedos disk image as it is). NTFS, UDMA etc are all optional (users can choose whether they wish to load them on demand via modboot).

That's kinda the point of the disk. Also, with the latest additions (post R1.21), users can now conveniently launch programs from within the same operating environment without requiring a reboot.

There really is no issue.

The shareware bit _is_ an issue. It is clearly marked as 14-day trial, so you must pay if you use it beyond that.

No, it was never included due to the shareware license.

The windows version is freeware (Jul-22-2008: HWiNFO32 IS NOW FREEWARE). It is a pity that this doesn't count for the dos version also.
