All but Windows Memory Diagnostics don't work

#1 Post by steggles » Wed Oct 08, 2008 3:09 pm

Not sure whether its because something about my mobo and RAM is royally screwed, but no memory tests run correctly except for Windows Memory Diagnostic (which shows no memory errors).

My Windows box has been BSODing all over the place. Linux Live CDs/DVDs dont want to boot, neither does ERD Commander or Bart PE. Occasionally they will boot though, its hit an miss. So I thought I would try UBCD.

Unfortunately... none of the memory tests want to load.

Memtest86+ V1.70, for example. Gets to here:

Loading /boot/memtestp.....Ready. And then just sits there.

Similar things happen for the other memory diagnostic programs.

The following is what I have:

Mobo: Asus P5B-Deluxe
RAM: 4x1GB Geil PC2-5300
UBCD: 4.1.1

Anyone give me any tips?

Thanks in advance!

You can try to put only 1 of the RAM modules in your PC, remove the other 3 ones. Test everything again. If it works, put the following RAM module in your PC (remove the previous one) and test this RAM module also, etc...
