Trying To Invoke Registry Restore

#1 Post by Sean » Tue Dec 23, 2008 12:14 pm

I just downloaded the UBCD Beta to try and use REGISTRY RESTORE to fix an XP Boot problem.

But I can't seem to find Registry Restore in the options.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanx in advance.

Probably you downloaded the wrong file (UBCD).

While you want UBCD4WIN:

Thanx for the fast reply..

I have downloaded both versions..

Let me explain my problem and maybe that will show how badly I messed things up..

I have an XP machine that boots up to a black screen with just the mouse cursor.. I can move the cursor but nothing else shows up..

I have booted into safe mode and SAFE MODE indicators show up at the corners, but no task bar or icons show...

I have done a REPAIR with the XP Install disk to no avail..

GOOGLEing the problem, I read that the UBCD Boot disk will allow me to use REGISTRY RESTORE.

The ubcd50b7.iso doesn't appear to have the RESTORE program when I boot with it. And the UBCD4WinV322.exe must be installed (it looks like) to an XP machine, which I can't boot into with this particular machine..

Any ideas for me??

Thanx again for the reply..

UBCD4Win has a registry restore option.
You need to install UBCD4WinV322.exe on a PC with xp or vista. Then you need your windows XP install CD to make your own Windows live CD (the actual UBCD4Win iso).

OK, I'll give that a shot.... My main workstation (this one I am posting from) is a VISTA machine. I'll install the UBCD4WinV322.exe here and go from there.

Thanx again..

Much appreciated...
