Can only boot PC with UBCD. Get HD errors otherwise.

Can only boot PC with UBCD. Get HD errors otherwise.

#1 Post by Maggotry » Sun Jul 03, 2005 7:36 am

Long story short...

I get "boot disk error...insert system disk" when booting my pc. Tried numerous HD's. Same error. However, if I boot the pc with UBCD, then select the "F8 Boot 1st Drive" option, all of the HD's I try will boot just fine.

What does UBCD do differently than just a normal boot? Why can I boot the HD only after booting the pc with UBCD first?

I'm truly stumped.

Have you tried rewriting your MBR code? I forgot to do that when recovering a system the other day.
