I have tried numerous times creating my own bootable CD with HDDErase on it, but it never works. I finally downloaded UBCD explicitly for this one program, but the EXACT SAME issue occurs. If anyone out there has any experience using this program, please help (there is no forum on the authors website; since it is on UBCD maybe someone here knows about it).
UBCD loads the program, I get to the HDDErase welcome screen where I am supposed to choose a drive to erase, but there is no drive selection available. No drives are listed at all. Anyone know how to get this program to function? Shouldn't be this freakin' hard, seeing as it's functionality is supposed to be built into the drive itself . . .
Running a Dell 8200, ATA/100 HDD, both CD and HDD are on secondary IDE channel (primary is fried), have tried swapping jumper positions between the drives with same results.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
More information here:
http://forum.hddguru.com/hdderase-t9993.html
and the README for HDDErase 4.0 is online here:
http://cmrr.ucsd.edu/people/Hughes/HDDEraseReadMe.txt
The password for v4.0 is "idrive" however if your PC BIOS will not let you ignore the drive while booting you may need to connect the drive to another PC to unlock it.
This is an issue with your BIOS not the HDDErase program.
Regards
Simon
