Newbie to the bootdisk

#1 Post by twinburner » Fri Oct 30, 2009 8:32 am

Alright so I got the traditional UBCD in my desktop which is malfunctioning. the desktop mind you, CD's working fine.

windows won't load for me because of this file

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startup ... 13477.html

Now, it's an issue with daemon tools and the info on it I've found says if I delete the SPTD.sys file it'll be fine.

the problem is I can't seem to get any of the file explore systems like file mavin to take a look at my C drive where this all is, they all claim it's not there or not initalized. I'm pretty sure it's just me being a newbie to this and not knowing how to set something up or using the wrong program. Could someone lend me a little help?

Many Linux file managers can handle this task, such as the ones on a Linux LiveCD.

Which would be great if A) I knew how to use linux much, which I don't or B) Any of those were on this boot disk http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ which I'm using. I was asking quite simply if any of the utilities on that boot disk can be used to get into the file systems akin to dos to delete a single driver file to fix my computer. It will not load windows XP. File maven and the related dos search ones load but each one seems to only have access to a drive it made up for the purpose of supporting dos and can't find my C drive. Any help would be appreciated on this and know I'd need a lil hand holding. When I said newbie I meant it.
