Hi,
I've been trying to change a registry key in Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon.
I'm changing Userinit to userinit.exe using ed Userinit. This works fine.
But when I come to save the changes, I get the message: "cpnt: /disk/WINDOWS/system32/config/software: Read-only file system" and the change isn't saved.
I'm using Windows XP, trying to undo a load of problems caused by a virus / spyware / something malicious.
Any help much appreciated!
Cheers,
G

Read-only problem
I am also having this problem. I can not get past anything! Nothing will change and I can see that My Administrators account is set to blank.....
This is the error I get every time I try to exit the registry editor:
cpnt: /disk/WINDOWS/system32/config/software: Read-only file system
Please help! My taxes need to be sent in and they are on this computer (which has NO Userinit key...blanked out by malware).

Try UBCD50RC1 or update Offline Password and Registry Editor yourself.
