sorry for the lack of detail in the thread title but I have a dell inspiron 1721 laptop with a fujitsu MHY2120BH 120gb hdd. it has no operating system on it right now. I don't know what happened to it, the laptop belongs to a friend of mine. I've tried using xp pro and windows 7 installer discs but both cannot find/read the hdd. The hdd shows up in the BIOS but windows installation cannot find it, says i need the drivers for it or something.

When I turn on the laptop after the dell logo screen it goes into a black screen with letters saying RAID BIOS VERSION 2.5.1541.34 then it shows my drive in the middle and below that it says Press <Ctrl-F> to enter FastBuild (tm) Utility where it gives me options to create a drive in either raid 0, 1, or JBOD modes.

I'm just trying to install a OS on this thing, doesn't matter what OS it is. I've seen it give me errors like master boot is missing etc. Will I be able to fix this with UBCD? how can i fix this if i can't with ubcd?

In the BIOS, set the Drive to ATA,compared to being set to RAID already. Make sure you save the bios. Then reboot and try reinstalling again.
