Not working with DELL Latitude D620

#1 Post by edouarduk » Fri Aug 13, 2010 4:30 am

Hi there, I'm having some problems using UBCD on CD or USB media.

I have at home at the moment 4 laptops: 2 toshiba satellite U200, 1 Toshiba satellite L30, 1 Dell D620 and 1 Dell D420.

I can't use the UBCD with both media (CD or USB) on the D620!!!

I get the same error each time I try with the USB media : "Panic, MCB chain corrupted System Halted"

and I get – different – errors each time I try with the CD media!????

The usb bootable UBCD works fine with all other computers and leads straight to the UBCD main menu

The CD media works on all other computers although I get a "cabinet savepart.cab file is corrupted" first (photo 6)

but it works anyway with the menu that follows that warning (photo 7, photo 8 )

(I've done the checksum of the ISO file after the download, I've burned more than one UBCD from different drives, but I always get that "savepart.cab" error on the D420 et U200, not on the L30 on which the UBCD leads straight to the main menu (photo 5).

I've tested the memory with ALL the tools on the UBCD (except one that crashes the system).

I've swapped the CD drive between D420 and D620 and whichever drive it is it works fine with UBCD in the D420 but not in the D620! I've done an update of the BIOS.

I'm stuck, I no longer know what else I could do apart from accepting that UBCD will not work on that laptop..

Help!?

Thanks,

Ed

When you boot the FreeDOS image, select another boot entry in the first menu (other settings for memory managers).
Download Ultimate Boot CD v5.0: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html
Use Parted Magic for handling all partitioning task: http://partedmagic.com/

Hi Icecube and thanks for your quick reply.

This is what I did :

from this menu
Image photo 1 (click on photo to enlarge)
I choose the ninth option "UBCD freedos..." then I got to this menu

.. and I chose different boot options.

The EMM386 did work! Thanks!
