AVG Updates

#1 Post by blackcat » Thu Sep 01, 2005 5:50 am

How can I update the definitions of the AVG antivirus?

Using floppy's is out of the question as most systems I need to use it on, don't have one.

Thanks for the help!

Updating AVG virus database is a bit more tricky than the other anti-virtus
apps. You need to install AVG for Windows on an existing system, perform an
online update to get the latest sigs, then copy the files over to the UBCD.

If anyone know of an easier method (without needing to install AVG for Windows),
do share.

Ok, I have AVG installed, which files do I copy over? I tried avi7.avg, but that stopped the AVG Dos from loading completely.

How about:

1. avg.exe
2. avg7dos.lng
3. avi7.avg

For updating the current AVG you only need to add all (3 ?) '*.AVG' files from an up to date AVG-windows installation. I verified this working fine, using an auto-update script currently under development (see topic: viewtopic.php?t=103).
