Hi Scott, Sorry about the delayed response! I'm actually using ubcd 3.4. Given that I've spent ages customing 3.4 for use at work and home, I don't really want to have to upgrade to 4.1.1 at this stage. But which of these stages is wrong? : a. copy the extracted program file to ubcd's root directory...

Integrating PartedMagic into UBCD 3.4
Dear All, I've been trying to integrate PartedMagic into ubcd because of its excellent file utilities, but I can't get it to work. It uses isolinux, and so what I've done is download the image of Partedmagic. extracted the files from it, copying the program file to the root directory of ubcd. I did ...

Thanks for your reply. Certainly, booting from Knoppix would be one way round the problem - and one that I will bear in mind. However, I was really hoping to get this working from ubcd as this would be more practical for me, as all the other tools I want to use are on it. Out of curiosity, could it ...

Problems mounting C: drive in FreeDOS
Dear All, I was hoping to use ubcd 3.4 to recover files from an NTFS-formatted HD in a laptop, using one of the inbuilt filemanagers. What I've found is that when I drop down to FreeDOS, and enable LFN and NTFSDOS at boot-time, I still can't find the drive in question. In Windows it would be under c...

Hi again, By 'enabling', do you mean that there is a command for loading the requisite (generic usb) drivers built into fdos? I've checked some other fdos sites and there seems to be a problem getting usb devices (whether flash, hd or cd) to be recognised and usable. What they suggest is downloading...

Integrating AOSS Spyware Doctor
Hi there, I've been wanting to integrate AOSS Spyware Doctor (OS independent rootkit scanner) into ubcd but have encountered a problem. When I extract the files from the image SD appears to use ISOLINUX. However, I try to use the isolinux parameter in the .scn file in ubcd but the program never load...

Another little question!!
Hi again, Thanks for your clear and informative response - I got the dos app in question booting nicely!! Having tried VC and NTFS I was wondering whether there was any other dos based file manager that would a) read NTFS, and b) allow one to copy files to a FAT formatted USB stick (NTFS reader does...

Customisation nightmares :(
Hi there, I'm new to ubcd and the whole customisation process. I've read many really informative posts but have not found clear answers to a couple of basic questions that arose when trying to add a filemanager and an HD identify program to the cd. Would anyone be able to help a newbie? 1. What is a...
