This floppy image is a very good DOS distribution. But why is it a floppy image? Why compression is used? Without need to decompress the startup process could be much faster. Is there still need to pressure all those functionality into floppy image? Since the grub4dos support in ubcd you could also ...

It doesn't matter when them get added, just to start the process that them get added at any time is fine. Ok, I post all applications I would find useful on ubcd. Obviously I think that a mp3 player or Integrated Development Environment or stuff like this will be not useful for a boot CD. Only tools...

DOS software archive
There are a lot lists with software archives, but many ones are obsolete/outdated. Do you know http://www.heise.de/software/ ? - unfortunately it's German (but most software is English anyway) - many software marked as DOS has in fact no DOS version (seams the reported confused it with DOS-box on NT...

Why many DOS based tools in it's own image?
Only talking about the DOS bases part of UBCD... I wonder why UBCD has such a big boot menu. Most of the entry does not seam necessary. Some tools of their own place inside the boot menu, other tools are just hang around in the folder names dosapps. Why not let the user choose in the bootmenu to boo...

Am I being too pessimistic? Yes. There is makebootfat, it allows to follow multiple usb boot standards at the same time. And as fallback you can use either a kicker disc (a floppy or cd booting because this works for most bios's, loading usb drivers and chainbooting the usb or using something like ...

My opinion on that is: If I can boot from USB why should I boot from CD? The only reason I see - no USB port (USB addon cards are cheap) - USB booting not supported by BIOS, ok, this is really bad, but here are workarrounds (minimal kicker cd with USB drivers and plop bootmanager) I go so far and sa...

See http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/modboot/ on how to build your own modboot disk. I don`t want to create my own modboot disk. I wanted to export drivers of modboot to use them on my own dos customized installation. No offense, but try to search the next time on google or another search engine first. T...

how to reverse modboot?
The dos bootdisks are using modboot. Some parts of these bootdisks (drivers and such) I would like to use on my own customized bootable devices and extract the binarys and the commands. If I open a modboot configuration file it`s very very big. Most commands are about decompression and error handeli...
