Icecube wrote:It must be at least 256MB (according to Patrick Verner (author of Parted Magic)). I always set it to 350MB.
That did the trick (went from 256Mb>512Mb). Hungry beast, don't you think? DSL works with ~64Mb. Is there any particular reason why PM needs so much memory?

i suspect it to be a problem with the a XMS memory manager (himemx). i've heard a similar report from another user.

please upgrade to R1.2 if you can. this should hopefully remedy the problem.

let me know if it doesn't.

ok, do you have access to a floppy disk on your system? if so, then try copying the files from the link i provided (unzip and stick on disk). you should then be able to access chkdskg from the B: drive once you finish booting into freedos. you may have to try using a USB stick if the above method fa...

interesting...what boot modes were you using? I noticed in your picture you were using defensive mode(?). Did the same problem occur in any of the other modes (UMBPCI, EMM386) ??? I'm not sure whether there's a problem with your memory (unlikely) or whether there exists some compatibility issue with...

you could use parted magic(?) to access the partition from within linux. i've used DSL linux to access/modify NTFS volumes in the past. To my knowledge, DOS based NTFS drivers are hit and miss, but you could try using NTFS4DOS (read/write ability). However, even if you were to delete the suspect fil...

You probably mean /images/ for v4.1.1 and /ubcd/images/ for v5.xx :) . heh, actually no. Rev1.2 is joint-compatible with 4.1.1 and 5.xx (i.e. single distribution). I will look at it later, I almost finished the upgrade of cpustress image. i'd appreciate it, icecube. anything you could come up with ...

doesn't windows dump the BSOD to a file? if you could access the drive and search for it (can't remember the location - google it), you should be able to see what xp is complaining about. if you type "NTFS" at the command prompt on UBCD4.11/5.xx, you should then be able to access the log f...

firstly, the programs you're running would need to support some form of parameters that support scripting events. e.g. :: START SCRIPT :: call app1.bat call app2.bat ... and so on. each bat file would contain parameters and commands supported by the respective application. at the end of each call fu...
