Re: UEFI boot

I noted that SystemRescueCD was able to boot both UEFI and UBCD. So it seems to be possible. Did you mean both UEFI and *BIOS*? SystemRescueCD uses grub2, which lets it boot under both UEFI and legacy mode. We could do the same for UBCD, but as discussed elsewhere in the forum, there seems to be no...

Re: Add nomodeset to UBCD 5.3.6

Ok, now I'm using the blank/white issue fix menu item already in place.
I saw files you are talking about but I'm asking help because I'm not so good with GRUB
I am assuming you are adding "nomodeset" to the Parted Magic bootup menu? In that case, try looking at "pmagic\boot\syslinux\syslinux.cfg".

Re: Add nomodeset to UBCD 5.3.6

All the UBCD config files are in text. You can always find the target config file and edit it in your custom version of UBCD.

If you using UBCD on a USB drive, you can even edit it on the spot without having to remaster the entire ISO file.

When you press the [TAB] key at the menu item, you should be able to edit the boot parameters.

Noted, though the changes seem to be restricted to the kernel and USB driver:

Still worth checking out though!

Re: Tools for SSD testing

Can't point to anything SSD-specific.

GSmartControl on Parted Magic is a generic tool for diagnosing SMART-enabled storage devices.

Re: antivirus updater fix

I won't be including the new "chmod" changes for the following reasons: 1. I feel the chmod should be done by the user depending on the situation eg. the scripts need to have +x permissions as specified in the readme, and if UBCD content is on USB memory stick, it is not necessary to +w and -w. 2. T...

Thanks for letting me know!

I have disabled the mirror link for the time being, and contacted the mirror owner about this.

Re: UBCD Live V0.2.3b available for download

"installed programs"?! What's that doing in a live rescue CD?

Anyway, I think creating a new partition and cloning old to new should work.

But as usual, make backups so that you can revert if anything goes wrong.

Re: UBCD Live V0.2.0b available for download

It's quite easy actually if you have any version of Debian or Ubuntu installed. Reference: http://live.debian.net/manual/1.x/html/persistence.html cd /media/disk (change directory to your USB drive; actual path may vary) rm -f persistence* (remove the old persistence file) dd if=/dev/null of=persist...
