I have also had very good luck with DBAN. The only times I've had problems were when the hard disk had some physical problems, or the machine wouldn't boot off a CD.

It's pretty trivial to add this tool yourself if you want to use it, read the customization docs for the ubcd for more details. IMHO, I doubt that it would be added to the "official" release as it doesn't really bring anything new and compelling as far as I can see. It just is a different ...
