Re: exit parted magic to main menu ubcd
I thought that you were asking how to exit from pmagic's boot menu, back to UBCD's (main) boot menu. I misunderstood your initial question. What you are asking is: how to "exit" an OS (pmagic) without rebooting. Whichever the OS would be, the answer is: that is not possible; you either reb...

Re: exit parted magic to main menu ubcd
Using the original UBCD 5.3.8, when you are at the pmagic boot menu you could: 1_ Press [Esc] 2_ Type: config.c32 /ubcd/menus/syslinux/main.cfg 3_ Press [Enter] If you can customize UBCD, you could edit the file: pmagic\boot\syslinux\syslinux.cfg and add to it a new entry (e.g. at the very end of th...

Re: Simple sound/audio check?
In a BIOS (not UEFI) system, boot UBCD -> fdubcd -> at the FreeDOS/fdubcd command prompt, type-in "beep" and press [Enter].

Re: Boot From CD/DVD Locked To Only UBCD
By your own description, something is not "as correct as you suppose it is". Let me explain what I mean. You mention "NVRAM", which implies a UEFI system. UBCD cannot boot in UEFI mode, so you must have booted it in CSM mode. You also mention that "BIOS settings are correct&...

Re: Boot UBCD on laptop with UEFI and NO legacy boot option
Considering that almost all the tools included in UBCD (version 5.3.8. ) depend on using BIOS (or CSM aka "legacy mode"), not UEFI, there is not much to do after booting UBCD in UEFI mode anyway.

Dave, Have you tried these: http://www.fysnet.net/mtools.htm They're specifically compiled for use with Bochs, but also are claimed to work with DOS and/or Win32. Last updated in May 2016. CB Yes someone pointed me in the right direction. Working great. Thanjs. Why are you mixing things / ports / v...

Re: Asus laptop BIOS does not recognize UBCD
Your system normally boots with UEFI, not BIOS. Please note that UBCD 5.3.7 does not support UEFI boot. If you have a UEFI machine, please remember to temporarily enable CSM (aka "legacy mode") in your firmware. For UBCD, in your firmware/bios temporarily disable "secure boot", &...

Re: [patch] ubcd2iso.sh errors: I/O redirection; ISO level
Regarding ISO9660 level 4, it is supported by mkisofs (search for an updated mkisofs' manual) from cdrtools . So, "level 4" is an adequate option for UBCD, especially considering that advance users would be using the script so as to generate a customized UBCD. Now, for the main issue... Wh...

Re: [patch] ubcd2iso.sh errors: I/O redirection; ISO level
When using the script "as-is", without patching it, what is the actual problem that you see? Does the resulting ISO image fail in any way as it is right now in UBCD version 5.3.7 ?

Re: Floppy, HD or no emulation
Please clarify. Are you trying to burn the original ISO image? Or, are you trying to burn a customized ISO image? Or, are you trying to build a new customized ISO image and then burn it to optical media? The question about the "El Torito" emulation mode (floppy/hdd/no-emul) is relevant whe...

Re: UEFI boot
Everything has pros and cons. Who is going to invest their own time to make this happen (a third bootloader)? Who is going to maintain it? Who is going to support users requesting even more (while the tools cannot take advantage of it)? And the additional MB in the ISO image? The storage and bandwid...

Re: UEFI boot
What you are suggesting is not that simple as you would think. Additionally, the tools included in UBCD are not prepared to run in UEFI mode (not even the Linux distro included). In practice, booting in UEFI mode is not as straightforward as the theory claims it is. Then, every time it fails, users ...

Re: UBCD V5.3.6 available for download
This is an important one for UBCD: FreeDOS 1.2 was just released. Before thinking of updating fdubcd too, it needs to be tested, a lot, especially considering the changes / updates / deprecations of memory managers, drivers (e.g. for optical media, for USB) and the like, and the variety of CSM imple...

Re: UBCD V5.3.5 available for download
Memtest86 is miles out of date. New version at: http://www.memtest86.com/ No, the version included in UBCD is not outdated.
