Wake-on-LAN
Wake-on-LAN is a nifty obscure feature of most computers. When enabled in BIOS, a special "magic packet" can be sent to the LAN port from another computer using the MAC address, and the computer will turn on. A router etc network infrastructure is not even required -- a simple direct peer-...

poweroff shutdown menu command
Please add a poweroff/shutdown command to the main menu or submenu. It is somewhat inconvenient and very obscure now, to have to research FreeDOS to learn to use the poweroff command to simply shut a computer off! Why does anyone need to turn their computer off this way? Maybe the power switch is un...

Wrong md5sum
That is the wrong md5sum -- that is the one from rc1.
The md5sum of this ubcd50rc2.iso file seems to be:
42d07a5708c7cc08c6c23a551d0b5613
Is that correct? Please edit the base sticky announcement post accordingly.

Trying to get memory SPD from Parted Magic
I've been exploring the Parted Magic in UBCD50B12 today. It is not easy to start this PM. On ASUS P4PE with Toshiba LCD TV there is great trouble with the 1360x768 video mode, a common Linux problem. Sometimes it is possible to get a display, but the default fonts are so small they are almost imposs...

Parted Magic nifty; add lm-sensors and more Linux!
Today discovered Parted Magic in UBCD50B12 -- this is not just a partitioning tool, but a whole nifty mini-Linux LiveCD hidden in UBCD! A little idea that might make it even niftier: include lm-sensors package, so that RAM SPD data could be accessed. A bigger idea: Mostly, when I burn UBCD on CD, I ...

System Speed Test v4.78 - improve access
System Speed Test v4.78 is a great tool for measuring RAM memory speed, to tune performance. Read more about this here: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1997 Let's work to make this program more accessible and usable in UBCD. These are the current problems: * Sometimes SST hangs ...

HOW TO INSTALL AND TEST MEMORY (System Speed Test v4.78 is great) "UBCD 2.1 2004 - Added System Speed Test 32 Ver 4.78. Thanks to Igor Schein for the suggestion." Do not try to just put memory in a computer and hope everything will be fine! Get a current copy of Memtest86. (I use Memtest86...

BCDL - Bootable CD Loader
BCDL is a wonderful tool for forcing CD drives to boot. BCDL is a boot floppy that auto-boots CDs even if the BIOS is having trouble booting the CD, or if you cannot set the BIOS to boot from CD. BCDL is just a 20KB download from here: http://bootcd.narod.ru/bcdl150z.zip which unpacks into a 1440KB ...

Dell Latitude CPi ISOLINUX 3.07 problems
UBCD vers. 3.3 and 3.4 do not work on Dell Latitude CPi laptops. Dell Latitude CP laptops may have the same problem. Anything that launches in UBCD with ISOLINUX 3.07 freezes with garbage on the screen, a hard crash lockup requiring power-down. So no programs are available, except for CD Shell itsel...

DOS Navigator
UBCD v3.4 contains v4.9.0 of DOS Navigator (2004). The current version seems to be DN OSP 6.4.0. Maybe update?
Also, the DN link listed at http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/index.html is broken. The current links are:

Yes, Volkov Commander 4.99.08 alpha (official freeware) is included in UBCD v3.4, inside FDUBCD menu choice [F6-F1] FreeDOS Boot Disk V3.35: Q:\>VC (although Help seems missing) But it would be better if it were easier to find, not so hidden! Until it is provided in a separate form, the best thing w...

need CD DVD boot tools
It would be wonderful after booting into UBCD if it were possible to then boot any available CD or DVD (or USB) even if not supported in BIOS. Current UBCD v3.4 seems to not offer any direct menu choices to do that. I have tested all of the Boot Managers in UBCD, from CD. None of them worked. SBM Sm...

Please include PARTINFO and PTEDIT in future versions of UBCD. They are free MBR tools from PowerQuest, now Symantec. See http://thestarman.dan123.com/tool/FreeTools.html for details. 3.4 Invalid Opcode
Something has gone wrong from 3.3 to 3.4, a little step backward. UBCD 3.3 seems more compatible with more computers than UBCD 3.4! On certain computers, only some 3.4 programs will start properly, but the same programs will start OK with 3.3. AIDA16 fails to start with: Invalid Opcode at 0688 4F01 ...
