Re: How can I incorporate a fix from UBCD onto the computer?
FWIW, your system seems to be using an InsydeH20 firmware, which is not a BIOS but a UEFI one. The tools in UBCD are mostly for BIOS, so you might have some "CSM" or "BIOS Legacy" mode or similar, somewhere (in the "advanced" tab maybe?, or in the "boot" one?)...

Re: How can I incorporate a fix from UBCD onto the computer?
The code, 0x80, means the first HDD. There are commands to boot a specific partition boot sector (instead of loading the boot code in the MBR, for example), but this is not our case. The command is simply chain-loading to the MBR of your first HDD. Since the system successfully boots by using this c...

Re: How can I incorporate a fix from UBCD onto the computer?
When you select (with the arrow keys) the "localboot" option that works for you in UBCD, and before you press "ENTER", please press "TAB". That action should show the Syslinux command line that would be used by that menu entry. Could you please post the exact command? A...

Re: How can I incorporate a fix from UBCD onto the computer?
Before doing anything in your BIOS, write down the settings that are in use. Since using a chain-load method (from UBCD to your main drive) works OK, it seems that all you need to do is to set your main drive as first place in the boot priority settings in your BIOS. If necessary, use the options to...

Re: Wont recognize Seagate
Have you checked with Dell? Have you checked with Seagate? If your system is using pure UEFI (i.e. no legacy BIOS / CSM support) then any DOS-based tool will fail. If you can still boot into Windows, you might want to check the Windows version of Seatools (but, if your HDD is already failing, then i...

Re: UBCD Live V0.2.3b available for download
Notable differences; I am testing: _ with a low-end RAM value. _ with a low-end screen resolution value. _ with IDE/PATA (booting from virtual cd-rom, either with or without a HDD image attached). _ with no sound, no USB and no network. _ on a 32-bit host. Please also note that I am _not_ using the ...

Re: UBCD Live V0.2.3b available for download
This time I tested with VMware Player 6.0.3, and with VirtualBox 4.2.24. The behavior I described can be seen in both. In both cases I used low resources for the guest (e.g. screen resolution up to 1024x768 or lower, 384 MiB RAM being shared for video too). Using the "failsafe" boot menu d...

Re: UBCD Live V0.2.3b available for download
FWIW, I attached the ISO image to a VM and used it as boot device. I am unable to see the applications menu (what in a Windows OS is known as "the start menu"). When clicking on the menu button / icon, a very minimal rectangle (almost a horizontal line) can be seen, but no action can be ac...

Re: Include older version of IBM/Hitachi Feature Tool
Do you "believe" that the feature is available in some specific older version? Maybe it is included in some other version (instead / too)? And how the setting is "persistent" when it is being set under certain OS but not when it is changed by using a different OS? An older versio...

More than a year between posts, your statements are still vague.
I would consider this a customization, at best.

Re: UBCD V5.3.5 available for download
No, my instructions were for UBCD. OK. The (linked) topic in question was originally about UBCDLive, so perhaps the distinction was not clear enough in that context. A different approach could be to add to the "readme" link to a (pinned) topic here in the forum, with instructions and comm...

Re: UBCD V5.3.5 available for download
I wonder whether there should be some comment about searching for auxiliary tools as alternative installation method, as we have been asked (and answered) recently here in the forum regarding the installation of UBCDLive under Linux. See "Alternate ways of writing UBCDLive V0.2.2b ISO to USB?&...

Re: A couple of updates
Partimage updated to 0.6.9 Certainly not new. Perhaps the version in the UBCD web page was not updated? Hasn't been updated because it is part of Parted Magic, which hasn't been updated for awhile. I will see if I can update it with a module in the next release. But partimage 0.6.9 is from 2010, an...

Re: UBCD V5.3.5 available for download
Regarding ubcd535 -> ubcd/tools/linux/ubcd2usb/readme.txt _ I would suggest changing from: "You cannot run syslinux" to: "You cannot run the syslinux installer" so to avoid misinterpretations between "you cannot execute the installer from..." and "you cannot boot y...

Re: Alternate ways of writing UBCDLive V0.2.2b ISO to USB?
Several comments: 1_ Unetbootin is not recommended for UBCDLive. 2_ dd-like methods are not recommended for UBCDLive. 3_ Under Windows, there are additional alternative programs (e.g. RUFUS http://rufus.akeo.ie , I have not tried with SARDU http://www.sarducd.it ). 4_ Unfortunately, the manual steps...
