USB Jumpdrive FAT32: FreeDOS says it's blank!

After a lot of trouble trying to get USB working, I was able to get FreeDOS working and to recognize my USB jump drive as drive B:... but when I use commander, the disk is blank! There are no files on the drive. I know that B: is the jump drive because if I remove it and try to execute a command, I get errors (abort, retry etc.)

It was formatted as MS-DOS FAT32 and I can read it on all of my systems, but not on FreeDOS.

Does the jump drive need to be formatted to a certain filesystem? What could be causing this? Any suggestions?
