Asus laptop BIOS does not recognize UBCD

#1 Post by Gene1000 » Sat Jul 22, 2017 2:21 am

Hello all,
My Asus gaming laptop BIOS will not recognize the UBCD and therefore I cannot boot from it at all.
The BIOS does indeed recognize other bootable disks. I used Active iso burner and Windows 10 to make the CDs and I've tried a number of them. No luck.

I'm using the latest version of UBCD - 5.37.

Can anyone please help.
Thanks.

What model of laptop? Is it running BIOS or UEFI? If it is running UEFI you can try changing the CSM settings but this may not help.

What is it you are trying to do?

I should have provided that information.
Asus ROG GL753VE-DS74
BIOS
Win 10, 64 bit.

I burned the iso file a number of times on various disks. None of them work.

When I insert the UBCD and open the BIOS, it's not listed. Only the inherent built-in, hard drive boot option is shown.

All I'm attempting to do is boot the "UBCD from the DVD. Simple as that.

Every other bootable disk that's inserted is indeed listed in the BIOS and all of them work to boot up the computer. Only UBCD does not.

Beats me.

Your system normally boots with UEFI, not BIOS.

Please note that UBCD 5.3.7 does not support UEFI boot. If you have a UEFI machine, please remember to temporarily enable CSM (aka "legacy mode") in your firmware.

For UBCD, in your firmware/bios temporarily disable "secure boot", "fast boot" and similar options.

For UBCD, in your firmware/bios temporarily enable "CSM" or "legacy boot mode" (or disable "UEFI mode").

Also check your downloaded ISO image:

Code: Select all

ubcd537.iso:
MD5 : 6e1df08ea97f918bbfa4243c8af86d2c
SHA1 : 55cdb594a18585a96e874fbda5bb00022a18ea53
SHA256: cbc31178c50d0792fed1f6da678b3226796b9f9914eb2c81c9a85d0dde6cb5c9
7zip can calculate checksums of any file.

If the checksum of your downloaded ISO file does not match the official one, then see:

OK, thanks. I'll take a look.

That's what I get for not keeping up with computers....and I used to build them for others.

Some great information out there.

Thanks again for the valuable info.
