Issues with multi-booting via USB

#1 Post by Hironaru » Sun Sep 03, 2017 2:22 pm

Hi there,

For the past two full days, I have not been able to successfully load Puppy v5.3.1 from UBCD via USB. The error is that after finding and loading the linux and initrd files, It cannot find the .sys file. Here is a list of methods I have tried so far:

Packaged ISO (with extracted vmlinuz and initrd.gz) /ubcd/custom/puppy/
- Extracted sys file and placed in /
- Copied the sys file and placed it in /
- Copied the sys file and placed it in /, /ubcd/, /ubcd/custom/, and /ubcd/custom/puppy/
- adding "APPEND iso" to the cfg in /custom/

extracted ISO /ubcd/custom/puppy/
- Cut sys file and placed in /
- Copied the sys file and placed it in /
- Copied the sys file and placed it in every directory ( /, /ubcd/, /ubcd/custom/, and /ubcd/custom/puppy/ )
- Pointed at this cfg in /puppy/ with the cfg under /custom/default puppy (as recommended buy an Icecube guide):

display /puppy/boot.msg
prompt 1
F1 boot.msg
F2 help.msg
F3 help2.msg
label puppy
kernel /puppy/vmlinuz
initrd=/puppy/initrd.gz
append pmedia=usbflash psubdir=puppy
timeout 50

- added "APPEND pmedia=usbflash" to cfg in /custom/
- crying

-----

I would really appreciate assistance in getting this seemingly simplistic operation to actually work.

P.S. I tried to upload the cfg files, but the forum cant accept cfg or txt files. :/
