iMac Boot Issue

Hello All,
I created an UBCD disk from a windows machine using Rufus and I was only able to select MBR for the partition scheme. I then tried the usb drive on my imac using the option button to select a drive but it doesn't show up.
GPT usb drives show up in the boot options just fine.
Am I missing something simple? I've been searching around but the only info I've found relates to UBCD support for intel macs and it appears to work.
Any help is appreciated!
