general issues

#1 Post by Cwix » Wed May 20, 2009 3:30 pm

Alright, im not the brightest crayon in the box but I am having some issues.

Laptop:Hp pavalion dv5 intel core 2 duo t6400 4gb ram

Cd: grub4dos doesnt work at all, and trying to get into freedos is hit or miss
usb: grub4dos works... sometimes... freedos.. i get a system halt error, sometimes it also displays "end of buffer"

Desktop: Homebuilt.. MSI k9-neo f amd athlon x2 4600 (maybe its 4200.. either way 4gb ram

CD... most stuff works.. except the stuff everything that gives me an invalid op code.. so i try grub4dos.. it will load into a menu, then keyboard at the very least stops responding
USb: cannot find system files (it CAN boot from usb.. done it before with linux distros)

any idea on any of this stuff it would be helpful... also maybe you could put something up on the homepage on how to install to a usb drive... took me a few to find the info, and it wasnt great info.

works fine on my buddys computer... helped us get one of his hard drives to co-operate again

thank you

To avoid the invalid opcodes, add raw to the APPEND line of each APPEND /ubcd/images/fdubcd.igz line in the configuration files (/ubcd/menus/syslinux/).

Did you try all options in the freedos menu (not only the default)?
