5 RC1 won't boot from USB; 4.1.1 does

I've installed UBCD 5 RC1 on a USB key. It refuses to boot on my laptop (ThinkPad R51). This is the first time I've tried using UBCD 5. I installed it using the ubcd2usb script and the installation appears to have worked correctly--files are there including ldlinux.sys.

When trying to boot, I simply get a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the far upper-left of the screen. No matter how long I wait, nothing happens. If I remove the USB key, I'll get an "operating system not found" error.

Suggestions? UBCD 4.1.1 installed the same way on the same USB key does boot just fine on the same laptop.

Thanks!
