Password change, Read-only file system

#1 Post by MrPaulJames » Thu Mar 06, 2008 8:06 am

Hi guys,

I'm new to the UBCD system etc, I need to reset a password on a machine, I'm running through the process... However when it comes to saving things it says that it fails;

"Read-only file system"

Any ideas???

Paul

Same Problem

I am having the same problem, I have rebooted multiple times in safe mode and the files are still locked.

I am trying to recover a password for a user who left their computer on for months and forget her password.

Which app are you using? If you are using NTFSDOS under FreeDOS, it is a read-only driver.

FWIW - I was able to reset the password by downloading a version of the software contained on UBCD directly from the original author's website.

I'm not sure which version is on UBCD and I don't have time to dig into why it worked. Just wanted to post my solution for others.
