Support of the project is nearly non-existant.
The possibility for continued development is available via open source.
The project would receive all of the updates needed and new versions would be released.

There is no way we can get the sources for tools which are made by hardware manufacturers..

A stroke of thy chisel, once made, canst be undone, but a stroke thou dost not make from fear is a worse flaw.
Be not cautious - be correct.

Constance,
That is obvious to me.
That is obvious to me.
Both of your posts are a bit confusing...
In this one your first statement:
"Support of the project is nearly non-existant."
and then you state:
"The possibility for continued development is available via open source.
The project would receive all of the updates needed and new versions would be released."
==============================================
If support is non-existent, how will going to "Open Source" help?
How would the project receive all the needed updates and continued development if, as Constance and I have stated, many of the programs are proprietary / not open source / Shareware / Trialware etc.?
If Constance's statement is obvious to you and you understand that other included programs are also not open source are you suggesting that all programs that are not open source be pulled from the project?
As I stated in your other thread, to be considered open source all the included programs would also have to be open source.
Finally, if you want to update a particular program just post a request and Victor will make a note of this for future updates and he or others may even post a method to update your current version, such as kof94's many updates... ie - this tread/topic -> viewtopic.php?p=2790#2790

The project refers to 'ultimate boot cd.'
When stating 'support is nearly non-existant', it should be noted 'support by the developer is nearly non-existant.'
The ultimate boot cd works as a front-end, specifically a menu system and mostly DOS-level driver and image loader. That is the entire program (the project).
The software a user chooses in the program 'the ultimate boot cd' (by selecting number in the menu) is from other companies. It is evident it should also be noted that the softwares included with the project are not programmed by the developer of this project.
The point being made is the release of a new version would occur (at an improved rate) by releasing the full code in the form of an 'open source'.
..
The original point was: additional developers would increase the number of updates and the speed of those updates.
