Please He lp - Removing UBCD

#1 Post by Mechanicus » Thu Nov 19, 2009 12:42 am

Hello. A few weeks ago, I had a problem with my computer (blank screen, no post codes from motherboard), and I tried using UBCD in a USB drive to boot up.

It turns out that it was a busted graphics card (and no post codes was due to the speaker cable not being plugged in. Doh!). So now it's all fixed.

The problem is, I now get a message each time I boot up (or come out of hibernation):

"Booting GRLDR
Resetting the boot driver..."

The only explanation I have is that UBCD installed something on my computer and that is that is now causing this message. I have not installed Linux, which is the top result when searching for GRLDR.

I did not get a chance to try out UBCD (as I said, it was a broken graphics card, so the PC worked fine other than having no visual display, and so I couldn't see what UBCD was doing), so I don't know how far it got into it's 'install' (does it even install?)

So, my question is, how do I get rid of this message? What files do I need to delete on my PC to remove UBCD completely?
I am running Vista Ultimate x64

Thanks in advance

UBCD doesn't install anything when your run it.
GRUB doesn't get automatically installed when you run UBCD.
You did install it yourself, by pressing some keys (and probably running Super Grub Disk).

Write a new MBR with Testdisk.
Download Ultimate Boot CD v5.0: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html
Use Parted Magic for handling all partitioning task: http://partedmagic.com/
