Mounting UBCD with no ISO file?

#1 Post by sedition » Wed Aug 02, 2006 8:12 am

Hey Folks,

I've downloaded the UBCD and am eager to check it out.

However, after unzipping it I found all the program files but no ISO file.

I tried copying all the files onto a CD but it will not boot.

All the instructions on the sites suggest mounting it from an ISO and assumably, it will boot.

Alas, it doesn't.

Any advice would be swell.

Thanks,

Huh you probably didn't pay enough attention and "uncompressed" the ISO file itself... some archivers show ISO files as archives (I'm thinking about WinRAR for example), and if you didn't disable in Windows the option to show extensions of known type files, you can't see the difference between an archive and an ISO as they have the same icon.

Wow, I simply did not know this.

I didn't know that windows would substitute unknown file types.

.....something every day.

Thanks a bunch M8,
