hi, i need to change the global environment variables like %SystemRoot% while the UBCD is running... for example for loading the registry of a hard disk with regedit ( set %SystemRoot% to the new location on the harddisk)... how can i do that? i saw it on some UBCD from a friend...

You just have to type SET SYSTEMROOT= followed with the path you want.
Either on command line or in the autoexec.bat of your boot disk image.

Hmm I don't really understand what you mean ... could you please be a bit more explicit about what you want to do and why using it in a command interpreter isn't enough ?

i want to set %SystemRoot% to any hard drive windows installation accessable and then start regedit, so that regedit loads the registry of the windows installation on the hard drive instaed of the one from the UBCD.
when i change environment variables in a shell, those changes only take effect in THAT shell... nowhere else... so when i start regedit then, it still has the default environment variables...
