how to update av programs

i cannot figure out for the life of me how to update the mcafee av program. i go to the download page, but it only gives me an .exe file that i can't do anything with.... can anyone give a noob lesson on how to do it?

After you get the sdatxxxx.exe file, do a sdatxxxx.exe /? from the
command line to see all the possible options.

I think you do a sdatxxxx.exe /x to extract all files to the current
directory. It is probably best to do that with sdatxxxx.exe in its own
directory so that all files will be extracted to that directory.
Otherwise, it might mess up your existing directory.

antivir files up to date

hi there,

i want to keep the antivir files up to date.
is it possible to extract the iso files to my HD and overwrite for example:
/dosapps/antivir/antivir.vdf
and
/dosaps/fprot/SIGN.DEF
/dosaps/fprot/SIGN2.DEF
/dosaps/fprot/MACRO.DEF

then burn the cd(rw) when needed, or what can i do?

btw it is "sdat*.exe /e" not /x ;)

That sounds about right, if you are just updating the virus defs for
F-Prot and Antivir.
