UBCD for data recovery

#1 Post by Twinkle.twinkle » Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:46 am

Good evening,

As my PC (Windows XP) has a system crash, I'm trying to save my files and data using UBCD. If I have good understood I should use one of the programmes in the Section "Filesystem tools", e.g. "Dos Navigator", "File Maven", "Necromancer's DOS NAvigator". Sadly, I'm not able to use such a programmes because I don't know hot to us DOS system.
Maybe, you can indicate which of these softweres is simpler. Maybe you know some procedure in order to find and save the files that are on the Hard Disk. OR, at least, maybe you know some on-line guides I can consult.

Thank's in advance! :-)

Try a small Linux disto like Puppy Linux, Slax, Parted Magic, ...
They give you an easy to use graphical interface, so you can get your data off your drive.
Download Ultimate Boot CD v5.0: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html
Use Parted Magic for handling all partitioning task: http://partedmagic.com/

Thank you very much Icecube,

I have already tried with two kinds of Linux "distro": both Ubuntu 9.4 and PuppyLinux 4.1. But it was not succesfull. That's why I think I need something more powerfull.

Thank's! :-)
