can't interpretate errors resulting from Lucifer

Hi NG.

I have a notebook with WinXP which sometimes shows the following error message:

Code: Select all

*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
*** The system has halted ***
NMI: Channel Check / IOCHK
So today I downloaded the latest version of Full UltimateBootCD and startet the Burn-In-Test Lucifer.

I ran the software for about 6hours and because I don't know how to stop the test, I pressed CTRL+C. The last result shown on the screen in the last line was Errors - 10. (I'm afraid I didn't write down each line which was shown on the screen.)

Isn't there a log file available for Lucifer?
Is there manual available for Lucifer?
Can anybody interpretate this meaningless error message?

Greetings,
Peter

Yes. I have that question, too. Lucifer test runs and runs, errors counting and counting, but - how to stop the test and see error messages? Thank You!

I will be removing Lucifer in the next version of UBCD.

Reason (quote from author's website):
Way back in the day I got bored and wrote a little burn-in program for Linux and DOS. I posted it on the net as my first publicly released program. That was in June 1999. People are still emailing me about the stupid thing! Anyway if you want to use it great, but it's unsupported and aparently buggy judging by all the email I get. Then again it is a burn-in program to be run on unreliable hardware so I wonder if some of the "bugs" are actualy hardware problems.
You may be better off trying one of the CPU of memory testing tools like memtest86 or CPU Burn-in.
