Could be due to this issue with memdisk 3.35/36:

Gotta wait for a fix in memdisk 3.37.

it works!

from syslinux 2.51:
chain.c32
isolinux.bin

from syslinux 2.60 pre 1:
memdisk

?.??, the original one from ubcd:
menu.c32

in this combination bart boots, the menu is displayed correctly and physical floppy works.

You just saved me a lot of dosh for a floppy drive. FYI - This fix works perfectly with a Yamaha Clavinova (CVP-70) as well. Interestingly though, the brand new Sony FDD I bought would not power up in this piano, luckily I had an old teac FDD kicking about that did the trick. Thanks!!
