Keyboard test

#1 Post by silicon83 » Tue Sep 09, 2014 8:55 am

Does UBCD have some sort of keyboard / scan code input identification? I was looking for a basic keyboard test for a faulty notebook. One does not appear to exist. Can I suggest this? A utility is listed here (ScanCode Show) and here (keyscan.zip). There is also 'toets1.exe' here (note MS SE complains the site has a virus). Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Silekonn

You can use the showkey program found in Parted Magic (or other Linux distros). It will show the scancode of each key pressed/released. Just run Parted Magic, open a terminal (or boot it just to the console), type showkey at the prompt and just press the keys. After 10 seconds of inactivity the program will exit.

Here you can read the manual page of showkey: http://linux.die.net/man/1/showkey

Nelson.

Hi Nelson,
I downloaded the Parted Magic 2019_05_30 package. I also installed the latest SARDU and UBCD. How can I update the new UBCD to Parted Magic? Thanks.
