Changelog:

- Updated UBCD FreeDOS to V1.39. Updated eltorito.sys/mdiskchk.com from syslinux 4.0.2. Enable mouse config dialog due to report that mouse driver causes Acer Aspire One to hang.
- Fixed ISO filename in pmagic\boot\grub4dos\grub4dos.lst.
- Fixed tools\linux\antivirus\clamav.sh, which stopped working due to a change in URL.
- Fixed ubcd2iso.sh (-R to -r; wordings of success status).
- Updated memdisk from syslinux 4.0.2.
- Updated tools\linux\readme.txt (added "chmod a+x ../../../antivir/antivir").

If you already have ubcd502.iso (md5sum: a76cd6e57aabadf93671ea6c4b57cd3a), you can download this 14.5MB patch file and bring the old ISO up-to-date.

Finally updated my USB drive from 5.0b12...

Slight problem I am having is that booting Grub4DOS, menus and descriptions, show over 392 total "\n" and 62 "\r" occurrences... I opened all the menu lists and did a "replace all" as a simple fix and now actually lets me boot everything properly because before, the encoding variables were in the command line for many programs causing them to error. Guess the encoding was set incorrectly when the files were saved?

Extracted with 7zip and tried it with WinRAR (before uninstalling it) with same result. Checksums are verified.

Or could it be something else such as an update that was applied to Grub4DOS?

Best trying to test the programs but only a few are working... with Grub4DOS. Most give an error 11: "Unrecognized device string, or you omitted the required DEVICE part which should lead the filename."

HD Clone works, had to use it last night, but testing several other programs and they error.

Anyone else having this problem? grub4dos was not changed from V5.0 -> V5.0.3. I also checked at my end and everything seems OK. Could it be the USB memory stick? Is it possible for you to try booting from the CD to verify?

No problem here in Virtualbox.

@ StopSpazzing
The "\n" and "\r" in the grub4dos config files are intended.
Everything after "\n" on the 'title' line is the help text displayed at the bottom of the screen.

For the FreeDOS image "\r\n" is used in the write command to introduce a DOS newline after the 'set ubcdcmd=<program>'in the setargs.bat inside the floppy image.

Are you sure that you use a recent grub4dos version (at least 0.4.4 final)?

Code: Select all

title AVIRA AntiVir Rescue System v3.6.9-20100824175402\n Scan system for virus infections using AntiVir and removes them. Auto detect\n and mount NTFS partitions.
configfile /ubcd/boot/antivir/grub4dos.lst

title FileLink V3.01\n Permits file transfers between two computers at up to 115,200 baud, using a\n standard serial cable.
map --mem /ubcd/images/fdubcd.img.gz (fd0)
map --hook
write --offset=15 (fd0)/bin/setargs.bat ubcdcmd=filelink\r\n
chainloader (fd0)+1
rootnoverify (fd0)

Whatever came with with UBCD is what I am using. Tho, I was using UBUSB to install GRUB4DOS onto the USB Drive. It may contain an old version of grldr, so I am now using the latest version of RMPrepUSB which FINALLY supports Grub4Dos. :D :D
I will test it and see how it works.

Update: It was UBUSB installing old grub4dos. Works great with RMPrepUSB. Now if only it could make a kicker cd and test the drive from qemu...would be perfect and could ditch ubusb all together.
