WDIDLE3 Not Seeing USB Drive?

Do I need to mount a external USB drive with Parted Magic somewhat similar to this thread(https://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/v ... php?t=2064) before I can modify it with other utilities?
It has a few Xfat partitions, should I format it first to something ubcd might recognize better?
