Some of you will no doubt find this useful:

In short, it is a 2.5" USB HDD casing that emulates a CDROM drive from ISO images stored on the SATA HDD itself.

That way, you can boot any ISO image from the HDD without having to deal with integration issues using isolinux or grub4dos.

That should make a memory stick version of this thing, and support floppy disk images as well. Then it would be perfect!

There is also a similar product with uses a SD card, which is open source.

Thanks! That's mighty interesting too!

I am not much of a hardware guy. I hope someone builds and sells it commercially. If it can be reduced to the size of a USB memory stick, so much the better!

It appears that iodd sold the patent to Zalman for this. The first version out was the ZM-VE200 which had USB 2.0 and eSATA connectors. They have recently released a newer version which doesn't have the eSATA but has USB 3.0.

Here are some links with a bit of information:

I ordered one of these along with a WD Scopion and it's taken a bit longer to get because the company oversold the stock and had to wait for delivery due to a back order. I am supposed to be getting mine later today (2/27).

Here is the site I ordered mine through:

I'll post back with some results after I've received it and had some time to check it out.

I'd really like to get one of those SD card units as well some time in the very near future.
