Internet Access

#1 Post by musex » Wed Jan 19, 2011 3:43 am

Once I have booted into the UBCD, how can I access the internet? Is it possible to access a wifi hotspot or do I need a Ethernet cable connected? A tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

Also how can I add my own programs to the UBCD. For example I would like to add 'logmein' so that I can remotely access a pc that has already been booted using the UBCD.

Here is a bit for information regarding logmein "www.logmein.com".

Regards,

You can boot into Parted Magic and configure your wifi, so you can access the internet.
Download Ultimate Boot CD v5.0: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html

What if I'm using a desktop PC and the only way to connect to the Internet is using an Ethernet cable?

Parted Magic works with normal network cards too.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Final question.

How can I install third party applications on to the UBCD. For example I have some data recovery programs that I want to use with the UBCD. How can I install them on the ISO so that when I boot into the UBCD I can launch them and recover my data?

Is there a way I can get Parted Magic installed onto the UBCD? If not then I will have to create a septate disc and that does not sound feasible because first I will have to put in the Parted Magic disk, modify network settings and then insert UBCD.

To be quite honest I am honestly baffled. Is there an easy way to get online whilst using the UBCD.

I guess I shall download version 5.0 because 3.60.00 doesn't seem to have it installed. (I'm using version 3.60 of UBCD)

Also any idea how I can get my own application installed onto the UBCD ISO.

This topic should be moved to the OFF-TOPIC category.

@musex, you need to READ and SEARCH before posting.

This forum is for UBCD, the ORIGINAL.

You are talking about UBCD4WIN. I won't even bother to provide the link.

[EDIT]
This topic should be moved to the OFF-TOPIC category.
After re-thinking that "suggestion", re-reading the topic and after some PM's with StopSpazzing (forum's mod), the conversation is technically correct for the original UBCD, specially the answers from Icecube.

So I am changing my mind and I'm withdrawing from my previous suggestion of moving the topic.
