Folder: Access Denied

Following the advice I received in another thread I took the harddrive out of my crashed laptop and used a enclosure that basically turns it into a portable harddrive. However when I try to open the my documents folder so I can copy the data to this hard drive it says that access is denied. How can I correct this issue?
