Should UBCD support boot from raid volumes?

Poll ended at Fri Jun 08, 2007 7:06 am

Yes, this is a problem that UBCD could easily overcome.

Yes, but i am concerned with the mass of driver support and think a utility would need to be added to allow manual inclusion of the needed drivers.

No, UBCD is not designed to boot RAID volumes and nor should it be.

Support for RAID drivers when installing Windows

#1 Post by Xshard » Fri May 18, 2007 7:06 am

I have not actually used as yet the UBCD, but it seems that it has not any support for booting a RAID volume when installing an OS that does not have its own native driver support for the raid volume. Can this be done wihtout a floppy dirve using UBCD, perhaps my suggestion is that a future release of UBCD could make this possible. I would be very interested in discussion on this topic as i come across volumes of people who have this problem when they do not possess a floppy drive.

Technically not possible.

What you need to do is to slipstream the RAID drivers into the WinXP setup. There are many utils for doing this. Google for it.

Why Microsoft doesn't provide support for loading the driver from CDROM or memory stick, only God knows. :?:
